Oleg Berg, an engineer and musician in the Ukraine, had a dream as a kid. He wanted to be able to take popular songs, songs that we're instantly recognizable, and invert there sound: making major keys sound minor and vice versa. Decades later, he has finally done it! Using a variety of music software, he created inverted versions of the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) and — his faverite — "Hey Jude" by The Beatles. Earlier this year, a major-key version of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" also popped up online. The switcheroo turns what was a mournful ballad into a shiny, happy pop ditty — and that prompts a lot of questons about how the human brain processes music. 1.There are 3 words that contain errors. Find 2 of them. First write the word incorrectly, then re-write it correctly directly next to it. 2. Using context clues, determine a definition of "invert". 3. What types of questions can you come up with about how the human brain processes music? Hey Jude 1 Hey Jude 2 NPR Story |
